he planted the seedling
but did not stay
to watch its silent,
tender growth
underneath the moist, cool earth
spread vein-like roots
and up above
surfaced the tiniest pale blooms
harmful they became
in such a short time
growing
into unmanageable wild vines
crawling speedily,
snatching,
clinging at my heart
and never letting go
